About the House

Welcome to our colorful paradise- right on the Fairway (Lake Cushman Golf Course). A vacation rental/ AirBnB/VRBO in a perfect Hoodsport location.

The house is styled in a fun & eclectic theme combining golf and flamingoes - “Pink Flamingolf,” both inside and out.

For the interior, we’ve curated decor and furniture in bright colors (heavy of the pink, but also including an array of other bright hues), framed artistic renderings of flamingoes in artsy painting styles, decorated walls with classic golf clubs and accessories, and finished with plenty of LED based neon signs- each room as at least one “background” that is photo-op worthy.

The exterior offers golf course views from the entire backyard- especially stunning in the evening. The yard has many amenities including a hot tub, a gas chimnea, a patio with a shade umbrella and large dining table, a bbq grill, and a wood fire pit to relax around. You’ll also catch glimpses of our lawn flamingoes and neon flamingoes in the garden.

The house offers 2 private bedrooms- one with a king sized bed, and one with a queen sized bed, a spacious open concept living room/dining/kitchen area, and a den with additional sleeping & hang out space. As per community rules, we allow up to five guests, and you’ll find there is plenty of space to spread out. The kitchen is quite large, so if you intend to cook, you’ll be very comfortable here! Additionally, we offer espresso via a “super-automatic” espresso machine, along with a selection of tea. We provide the basics, including pots/pans, plates and glasses, silverware, etc. You’ll find Roku enabled TVs in the living room, den, and king sized bedroom.

Hoodsport is located right on the edge of Olympic National Park, with many world renowned trails a short drive away. The area is well-known for Staircase, but there are tons of additional hiking trails worth the visit. This list includes hikes that the Forest Service has designated as “day hikes” (with links to more info about each trail)

Hoodsport & Lilliwaup

The town of Hoodsport is adorable and is easy to get to!

  1. Fjord Oyster Bank: Watch the evening magazine video about this must stop seafood restaurant located right at the base of Lake Cushman Rd on highway 101.

  2. Burger Stand: A local staple for burgers and ice cream- be sure to try the bulgogi burger.

  3. El Puerto de Angeles: El Puerto de Angeles has the best view around, with patio seating right on the pier.

  4. Hoodsport Coffee Co: Not just coffee, but high quality locally made ice cream too, perfect to grab for a beach walk

  5. Potlatch Brewing Company: small batch brewery with tasting room on the waterfront

  6. Hood Canal Market: If you forgot to pickup some grocery items, you won’t have to travel far. This small grocery store is just 5 minutes from the house.

  7. Hoodsport Winery & Stottle Winery: two wineries with tasting rooms minutes away

  8. The Tides Restaurant (great breakfast spot)

  9. Model T Pub: small bar just minutes away

  10. Hama Hama Oyster Saloon: the hood canal is well known for Hama Hama Oysters. This destination is a bit further (~20 minutes from house), but well worth the trip!

Olympia & Tacoma:

Olympia has a lot to offer, and is a super easy day trip, about 45 minutes away from the house, and Tacoma is just a bit further!

1. Food! Tacoma has lots of great restaurants, and a quirky downtown core. Our favorite spot in Tacoma's downtown is McMenamin's (a PNW chain, but this is our favorite one in WA)- and if you have enough time, try to find their secret bar.

2. Union Station - a beautiful old train station that is now used as a federal courthouse. The Foyer  is open to the public and has stunning displays of Chilhuly's glass art.

3. WW Wright Botanical Conservatory - seriously stunning greenhouse located in Wright Park. This huge victorian greenhouse is on the national historic register, and houses hundreds of exotic plants.

4. LeMay's Car Museum - if there's a car fanatic in your group, this car collection is a must see

5. Karpeles Manuscript Library - Museum entry is free! They boast thousand upon thousands of historical documents from just about any category. The exhibit changes several times a year, so even if you've been before, you haven't seen it all. The collection is all encompassing, including handwritten literary transcripts from famous authors, to religious documents, to historical certificates and more

6. Washington State Capitol Building in Olympia -  they offer free tours. Washington's capitol boasts one of the more architecturally significant sites compared to many other states. You can also take a stroll along Capitol Lake, just below the Capitol building. There are tons of great restaurants, bars, and breweries in the Capitol area.

7. Mima Mounds - this nature preserve in Olympia is very unique. It is known for the bubbly mounds dotting the landscape of this prairie setting, and offers three miles of easy trails.

8. Lattin's Country Cider Mill - Farm with a petting zoo that sells their own freshly pressed cider and other fresh foodie treats! Best time of year to visit is early fall.

9. Food! Olympia is well known for their breweries, and the downtown area is fun to explore and brewery hop

Seattle & Surrounding Metro Area

If your stay in Hoodsport is being planned as part of a trip to Washington state, you be delighted to know we are just ~90 minutes from Seattle, making Seattle a great day trip! Everyone knows about the fun to be had a Seattle's famous Pike Place, but there is SO much more than the market to be seen and experienced in the Seattle area! Here's a handful of our favorite spots for visitors to the greater Seattle area:

1. Chihuly Garden & Glass - one of the best museums in Seattle, and absolute mastery of art
2. Seattle Art Museum's Sculpture Park - Located along the waterfront in a gorgeous park setting, this space doesn't charge to roam through the huge works of art
3. The ferries - it you are traveling with kids, they'll love a ferry ride
4. Woodinville Wine Country
5. Kerry Park - perhaps the most famous viewpoint in Seattle, Kerry Park overlooks the water and Seattle's skyline from a quaint park
6. Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room - coffee lovers need to stop in! They have speciatly drinks that are exclusive to this location, and you can sip your coffee in a setting that feels like a cross between a factory and a gastro-pub.
7. Underground Seattle - fun historical tour of the streets below! Seattle was rebuilt in the late 1800s after a fire left most of the downtown destroyed. The original Seattle downtown was built too low and regularly flooded, so when it was rebuilt, they built the "ground level" two stories higher!
8. Snoqualmie Falls! You can even take a (very short) hike to the bottom to get a more up close and personal view. Stop by Small fries in Fall City afterward for a delicious guilty treat (they are specifically known for their fries and shakes)

Our green friendly approach

Carina organics

Carina Organics is a very important part of our efforts. We provide guests with Carina organics body wash, shampoo & conditioner, lotion, and hair gel.

These products are made from high quality natural ingredients that are not only septic safe (we are on a septic system), but are also safe to deposit into the soil after the septic system process is complete. This ensures that the woodlands of Olympic National Park & Lake Cushman's ecosystems will not be negatively affected by our guests hygiene products.

And, one last reason we love using Carina Organics: they help us reduce our single use plastics use via a bulk refill program.

-100% Biodegradable (safe in rivers, lakes and oceans)
-Synthetic Free
-Hypoallergenic
-Cruelty Free
-Vegan
-Paraben Free
-Soy Free
-Gluten Free
-Dye Free

Coffee & Tea

We’ve found that guests expect single-serve coffee instead of the traditional coffee pot. But, it was important to use that we not contribute to the coffee pod waste that has become a large contributor to waste. And, we wanted to provide a quality option- we know the PNW loves their coffee. We searched long and hard for a solution, and decided that a super-automatic espresso machine was the best way the balance quality with reduced waste without making things too complicated for our guests. It truly is "super-automatic," so even if you've never used an espresso machine before, you'll find it easy.

Additionally, our selection of teas come from B-corp certified Bigelow Tea company. They have some of the best practices in the tea industry, and use only renewable energy sources.

Green Cleaning

All of our cleaning products, including laundry and dish detergent are eco-friendly. This ensures that the woodland and waterway ecosystems will not be negatively affected, and guests will have a safe & clean place to stay. We use powdered detergents to reduce the impact of shipping heavy (water) products.

FAQs & Misc details

Does the house have A/C?

Yes, in the living room. We have installed a semi-permanent AC unit in the living room. It is setup from June-Mid September. During the cooler months AC is not available to guests. This AC unit only supplies the lving room, however if bedroom doors are left open, the unit does a great job of cooling the entire house.

Is fishing allowed at Lake Cushman?

Yes, as long as guests follow WDFW rules. Guests who intend to fish must bring a valid fishing license for each fishing person, and record any catches that the WDFW requires catch records for.

Is there a dedicated office?

Although there is not a full office area, one of the walk-in closest in the primary bedroom is furnished with a desk and computer monitor.

What is the Cellphone service and internet situation?

Cell phone service is not great in the Lake Cushman area. Most will have service while in the town of Hoodsport, and along Highway 101. When you head up N Lake Cushman Rd, service becomes more spotty. We have used T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T all with varying degrees of success depending which phone was used. You can connect to our fast wifi while at the home. Two of the Lake Cushman parks also have wifi.

Can we use the fire pit?

Yes. guests may use either the wood burning fire pit or the gas chimnea. Note: we do not provide firewood, so be sure to bring your own. For safety reasons, we do not provide an axe or other cutting tool, so be sure to pre-cut your wood and kindling before you arrive.
Follow Mason County burn bans when in place - use this link to look up current burn ban alerts

Do you have cable tv?

We do not provide cable. However all three TVs are Roku enabled, so you can log into any streaming services you subscribe to.

Do you provide coffee?
Yes. We provide espresso beans and a super-automatic espresso machine. The machine is extremely easy to use (even if you’ve never made coffee before), and we provide instructions as well.

Is there a Pack N’ Play onsite?
Yes, we provide a Pack N’ Play. Guests clean up and put away the Pack N’ Play (in the closet where it was found) at checkout.

What appliances/supplies/ etc do you offer?
You’ll find a full list by clicking on “Provided Items” at the top of the menu.

Can we bring our pet(s)?
No, we do have a strict no pets policy to keep allergens at a minimum. Pet dander can be very difficult (and expensive) to remove. If it is found that the guest did not abide by this rule, an additional cleaning fee of $200 will be be charged by AirBnb to ensure proper allergen cleaning.

Other rules:
Absolutely no smoking anywhere on the property, including outdoors.
Absolutely no fireworks allowed on premises.
Quiet hours after 10pm
