From the Seller:

Dear Buyer,

There are so many things we will miss about this house. Our family grew together and made so many good memories here; we're sure you will as well. We celebrated many occasions with our friends and extended family out on the lawn or on the deck over the garage where we enjoyed the view of Lake Washington. We placed a small fire pit on the roof top deck and enjoyed s'mores and glasses of wine into the night. The backyard provided us a mini escape from city living, where we were able to make our own urban garden come alive; we loved to grow fresh fruits and vegetables. It's hard to beat going out to harvest fresh ingredients for a salad or that night's dinner. The house's yard made it so that we had just the right space for outdoor living when the weather was nice.  Many afternoons and evenings were spent in the yard running around and playing with our daughter. Our daughter also had tons of fun running around with neighbors and friends from her school, many of whom live in the neighborhood.

Speaking of the neighborhood, it's hard to capture everything we will miss. First, the people in the neighborhood are very friendly and always have your back when you're in need. Many times during the summers there would be neighborhood hangouts in the streets and organized get-togethers like ice cream socials. It was great to have the support of our neighbors during the pandemic. Beyond the people themselves the house is only a couple of blocks from the Burke-Gilman Trail. We used the trail for a mix of work and play - my wife rode her bike to work (and never had to deal with traffic!) and we often used the trail for leisurely bike rides to get dinner at Jak's steakhouse or a quick beer at a local brewery. We cannot be more sad about losing access to the Burke-Gilman, which you can use to connect directly to a variety of fun activities and parks.  Matthews Beach Park is only half a mile south on the trail and provides great access to the lake for swimming as well as picnicking areas and a playground for kids. A little over a mile south is Magnuson Park which includes all kinds of sports fields and events. The hangar at Magnuson hosts many different events like the Winter Beer Festival and Grilled Cheese Grand Prix. Additionally, the park hosts outdoor movie nights which are great fun during the summer. Heading north on the trail will take you to Kenmore where you will find Brewer's Row a stretch of three breweries (Cairn, Nine Yards, and 192) which are right off the trail.

Matthews Beach neighborhood is right next to the wonderful Wedgwood neighborhood that has a few great options for food or to meet a friend for coffee, or get in a quick workout at a boutique gym. Fiddler's Inn is a hidden gem in the neighborhood with a great atmosphere and good food, definitely try their French Dip if you're ever in the mood. Our family loved getting pizza at Mioposto, a little farther up 35th. As for coffee, I would highly recommend Vangogh Coffee or Javasti.  All along 35th you will find a wide variety of great neighborhood restaurants that are worth visiting but if you're in the mood for something a bit fancier, then University Village (a quick 10 minute drive) should be your destination. The Village has more restaurants and shopping options than we can cover but it's a great place for couples and families alike.

Inside the house, we spent a fair bit of time hanging out around the wood fireplace on the main floor and down in the basement for movie night. The basement, with it's wet bar, made a great place to hang out with friends for a quiet night in or for a boisterous board game night. Additionally, the wine closet will be a great place to store your wine collection at the perfect temperature, which came in handy during the recent heat wave. The bathroom attached to the master bedroom provided a relaxing escape from the troubles of the day. There were many times that enjoying the spacious shower or taking a soak in the claw foot tub helped us wind down after a long day.
